Builders Merchants shrug off pre-Brexit jitters for Q2 sales rise

Builders Merchants sales were up 6.2% in Q2 2016, compared with the same period in 2015, with ex-VAT sales reaching £1.44 billion compared to £1.36 billion (BMN).

Covering the three months leading up to the UK's vote to leave the EU, sales were seemingly unaffected by pre-vote jitters, with year-on-year sales growth in Ironmongery - up 7.8% - and Heavy Building Materials - up 6.5% - among the highlights.

The figures are put together with GfK's Builders Merchants Panel, from the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) in the Builders Merchants Building Index (BMBI).
