Troy Means Business returns to Silverstone today

Troy Means Business (TMB) is back for a sixth time - the one-day industry show returns to Silverstone today (27 April), once again followed by a themed Gala Dinner.

Last year’s show was not only Troy UK’s best attended yet, but it also saw the introduction of a feature that will make a return in 2017 – the TMB virtual show. Showcasing 10 top products that are promoted at the show, deals on some of those products were made available for the following week after the show where over 500 hits were received on the offer section of the site.

Against a backdrop of a rising membership for the group and high expectations for the 2017 show, Torque speaks with Marketing Manager Andrea Arkless…

What are your expectations for Troy Means Business 2017? Are you looking to exceed last year’s numbers?
The number of stands will remain about the same, we are conscious of not increasing the show to a size where it’s impossible for the Members to get around in the time available. However, the number of suppliers who are represented on those stands will exceed last year’s total.

Will there be any new features for 2017?
The top 10 deals offered will be actively promoted and there will be development within the virtual show to make it more user-friendly.

Can you reveal what the theme will be for the 2017 Gala Dinner?
Yes it will be a 1920s Gangster/Great Gatsby theme.

More generally, what’s new with Troy?
There are lots of things happening in Troy especially on our EDI platform which is gearing up for paperless transactions moving forward. We are working on a number of initiatives which will benefit our members and suppliers alike.

Are Troy UK’s membership numbers rising?
Yes, the numbers are rising and we are still having lots of enquiries about joining the group.

And is there a new website live?
Yes, the new Troynet website is up and running which is a lot more user friendly and helpful to the members than it was before as it is packed with information particularly on the supply chain, products and brands. The site will roll out more as we go forward and will
become a lot more interactive.

Have you any final thoughts for our readers?
We would just like to say a big thank you to all our Members and Suppliers for all the support they give to the group as we say, ‘We are stronger together’.

BANKING ON TROY

Toolbank is among the sponsors backing this  year’s show. The firm said: “Toolbank will be sponsoring the Troy Means Business event again this year showing our new instore on-line trading facility, low cost Silent Salesman, and the ‘Box Clever/Stand & Deliver’ branded merchandising and display catalogue. It includes over 60 brands such as Stanley, Dewalt, Irwin, Bahco, Milwaukee and Roughneck with everything from a small rack of Jubilee clips to a complete Abus merchandising system.

“All these initiatives are designed to help customers such as Troy members sell more products from your trade counters using our
huge stocks and next day service."
