Troy (UK) launches 'support independents' nationwide campaign

Troy (UK) has launched a nationwide #SupportIndependents Campaign to endorse the values of buying locally through its 350+ Independent Member Distributors across the UK.

Trades and members of the public can support this campaign and their local economy by choosing to shop with a Troy Member industrial tooling distributor, rather than a buying through a national tooling chain. Troy Members are UK family businesses, built up over generations, with proud histories offering unrivalled levels of customer service and in‐store technical product knowledge with access to over 400 suppliers and over 2,000 brands – providing quality merchandise, at great value all from a local and trusted trader.

Keen to get the message out, Troy will be highlighting the benefits in buying from a Troy Member; being competitive on price, giving a professional tool shop experience and offering first class, after sales support from a familiar and friendly face. It will be pushing the flexible approach to sales, that only an independent can offer, their wealth of local knowledge, and a mutual ethos of supporting other independent businesses in their communities too – which is vital for keeping the UK’s local economies growing.

Troy: "We want to make sure that buying local is the first thing that people think of when wanting to buy industrial tooling products"

The #SupportIndependents campaign, which is part of a larger marketing strategy, will be directing professional trades and DIY customers to Troy Members through its online branch locator. It comprises local and national targeted advertising, social media, customer focussed digital events and trade road shows. To complement this, Troy recently became a sponsor of champion rugby union team, Exeter Chiefs, which is local to its Head Office. The Chiefs share many of Troy core beliefs; its strong family values, commitment to developing homegrown talent and beliefs in backing local enterprise – as well as putting the Troy brand firmly on the map.

Keira Park, Troy Group Marketing Manager, says: “Troy is synonymous with independents, so it’s our aim to reach out to all customers, far and wide, and highlight the real value in buying from a local independent – incredible customer service with a personal touch, technical product knowledge, flexibility of sales, tooling repair services and more.

“Customers may believe that a local independent industrial tooling distributor might not have access to the same wide ranges of products and brands as national tooling chains and that is simply not the case. Through our #SupportIndependents campaign, we will be shouting via every possible channel – social media, local & national news outlets, our digital events and through high profile sponsorship – to make sure that buying local is the first thing that people think of when wanting to buy industrial tooling products.”
