Makita launches new 18V LXT Top Handle cordless chainsaw

Leading power tool manufacturer Makita has launched a new chainsaw for forestry professionals. With the new Makita DUC254Z 18V LXT Brushless Top Handle chainsaw, Makita aims to combine power, performance, reliability and value in one model.

The new DUC254Z has a single 18v lithium-ion battery which generates a 570 watt output. This runs the 3/8th inch chain over the 25cm bar at over 24 metres per second, matching the performance of a petrol machine.

Meanwhile, the Brushless motor ensures longer run-time and greater power.

The cordless DUC254Z is designed for single-handed use and for use by operators climbing trees, weighing just 2.8kg. The model also provides a soft start function which accelerates the motor into action while reducing the sudden torque load on start up. The DUC254Z features a variable speed control trigger, electric chain brake and kickback brake, with sturdy hand grip.

The new model features the main power switch with an auto-off function, making it one of the safest chainsaws on the market and setting an industry standard. This function automatically turns off the machine if the operator does not grip the lock-off lever within 10 seconds of turning the chainsaw on, or if the switch is not triggered within one minute.

In contrast to a petrol chainsaw, the DUC254Z provides zero emissions and low noise levels in operation, as well as low vibrations for operator protection.

Makita has additionally introduced two new 18V LXT 5-piece brushless kits, representing a substantial saving by comparison with individual purchases.
