Bulten has reported decreased EBITDA and net sales for Q3 2025.
The company’s operating earnings for the quarter were only SEK 61 million, down from SEK 140 million, a 56% year-on-year drop. For the first three quarters, EBITDA decreased from SEK 427 million to SEK 271 million, representing a 35% decline.
Net sales in Q3 2025 amounted to SEK 1,034 million, down from SEK 1,333 million a year earlier.
Axel Berntsson, President and CEO of Bulten, said the company’s sales and profit for Q3 were “clearly lower than the previous year” due to a cyberattack on one of its largest customers, which caused a total supply shutdown in the latter part of the quarter.
“For Bulten, this meant around SEK 200 million in lost sales during the quarter, with a significant knock-on effect on earnings,” Berntsson said. “The customer’s production has now restarted, with a gradual increase in production rates, and is scheduled to reach full volume by the middle of the fourth quarter. As a result, we expect lost sales again in Q4 on roughly the same scale as in Q3.”
In addition, Bulten implemented a new organisational structure during the last quarter. As part of the changes, it cut about half of all central services based at its Gothenburg headquarters. The company also streamlined operations, resulting in a global staff reduction of just over 200 people since the review began in spring. This equates to around 10% of the company’s workforce and is expected to save about SEK 100 million per year.
Order bookings amounted to SEK 902 million, down from SEK 1,455 million, a 38% decrease year on year, mainly due to the production halt at one of its largest customers.
To strengthen its business, the company has been securing new contracts with a greater share of value-added services and expanding into verticals such as consumer electronics, medical technology, aerospace and defence. One notable order will see Bulten take overall responsibility for consolidating fasteners and related components for a new car factory in Eastern Europe. Anticipated annual sales are SEK 200–300 million, with production set to start in mid-2027 and good potential for add-on business. The company will handle several hundred items, about 40% of which will be produced by Bulten and the rest sourced from third parties.
