Makita to acquire Panasonic Power Tool business

Japan-headquartered tool giant Makita Corporation has reached an agreement to buy the Panasonic Power Tools business (Electric Works Company of Panasonic Corporation), not least for the brand’s torque tool expertise.

The deal is expected to close in this fiscal year and comes as Makita is looking to strengthen its existing businesses as well as secure new sustainable growth drivers.

Makita said the Panasonic Power Tools business has earned strong recognition in the production line and factory fastening equipment field, particularly for its advanced torque control technologies and IoT‑enabled data management solutions: “These strengths are highly valued in manufacturing processes where high precision and durability are required.”

The firm added: “By combining Makita’s battery and motor technologies with the fastening and IoT technologies of the Business, Makita aims to enter the factory‑oriented market in a full‑scale manner and create highly value‑added solutions. Through this integration, we seek to further enhance our corporate value.”
