Trio sentenced after series of power tool merchant thefts

Three men have been handed prison sentences for attempting to steal a significant haul of power tools from Travis Perkins' Rugby branch.

The Rugby Advertiser reports that the criminals' attempted robbery at the branch was their third raid of the day. The theft of £66,000 power tools was thwarted when they unwittingly set off an alarm, which alerted the police. Officers were on the scene while they were loading their haul into a stolen van. One of the men was tasered as he attempted to drive off.

They had previously stolen £8,000 worth of tools from T W Wholesale Tools Supply Company in Swadlincote.
