Industry 4.0 a hot topic at Hannover Messe press preview

Huge industrial show Hannover Messe runs 24-29 April, but press and media types got a preview at a special event last week.

Over 100 international journalists attended the Press Preview, which featured presentations and 43 companies showcasing their products and innovations at the Hannover Exhibition Centre in Germany.

The April show will feature a record 500-plus Industry 4.0 applications, Poland will be 'Partner Country' to the 2017 show and Innovation will also be showcased at Hannover Messe. Hannover Messe turns 60 this year and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will (again) open the show, this time alongside Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo. Last year she was joined by then US President Barack Obama.

Deutsche Messe Managing Board member Jochen Köckler said: “The world’s leading trade fair for industrial technology will present solutions for all parts of the industrial landscape. It’s a landscape in which mechanical engineering and IT are converging. This is digitalisation, and HANNOVER MESSE will show visitors how to recognise its benefits and make them their own.”

With hundreds of Industry 4.0 applications, the show will include considerable focus on the enduring topic. 'Machine learning' - where production machines analyse data to self-optimise - and changes in the kind of work factory employees undertake - like solving problems on the factory floor rather than focusing on repetitive manual tasks - are all set to be in focus at the show.
