Hitachi power tools gearing up for $447m 'acquisition spree'

Hitachi's Power Tool division - Hitachi Koki - is targeting becoming one of the top three power tools makers in the world, according to reports.

Hitachi Koki will spend up to 50 billion yen ($447 m) on acquisitions to achieve this, the report said.

The news follows the acquisition of Hitachi Koki by global investment firm KKR at the start of this year. At the time, KKR stressed the opportunities for further organic and inorganic growth and said it was fully committed to support Hitachi Koki in pursuing its growth strategy.

Metabo joined the Hitachi Koki group in March 2016. Other owned brands include CARAT, SANKYO and Tanaka. For the year ended March 2017, revenue reached 178,759 million yen.
