A member of Wedge Group Galvanizing’s management team has completed a Master’s Degree in Sustainable and Ethical Business Management.
One of the key frameworks adopted as part of Technical Services Director David Nobes’ training is the Triple Bottom Line – a concept focused on People, Planet and Profit. Fully adopted as part of the company’s decision-making processes, this structured approach has led to the formation of its Futures Team, the introduction of a new sustainability policy and the creation of a centralised sustainability section on the website.
“It’s been an enlightening and rewarding learning journey. We have been delighted with the progress the company has already made, and the Master’s Degree has given us the confidence and knowledge to build on the already strong foundations for sustainability that we have,” said Nobes.
The Master’s Degree was completed over two and a half years, from March 2023 to July 2025. The course comprised a blend of intensive block-study weeks, one-to-one sessions and applied learning, covering a range of critical subjects including leading sustainable and ethical change, sustainable business strategies and ethical financing.
Nobes completed ten coursework assignments, each approximately 3,000 words, combining academic theory with real-world examples from within Wedge Group Galvanizing and across all 15 of its sites.
The programme concluded with a 17,000-word dissertation titled The Case for Embedding Sustainable Strategy into the Galvanizing Sector – a robust and practical roadmap aimed at guiding the industry towards a more sustainable future.
