Martin Newsome, Managing Director of Newsome Tools, is celebrating 50 years in the industry this May and has no plans to stop anytime soon.
Newsome started out alongside his father, as a two-man band selling hand tools from their vans to retailers in the North of England. Now he can proudly state that his companies employ 34 people and export to 18 countries.
The family tradition continues with his son involved in the hand tool business and he recognises the importance of a good team with many staff staying their whole working life in the business. “We are a real family group across all three companies, Newsome Tools, English Chain and DFD for which I’m very pleased,” said Martin Newsome.
“I can honestly say, I don’t know where the years have gone! I have made some great friends and genuinely love meeting our customers, who I recognise as being the most valuable asset to our group. I have no plans to retire, I’m still working 50 hours a week and I believe the harder you work the luckier you get,” he added.
