Inlex introduces PFAS-free precote® 85

Inlex Locking has started offering precote® 85, a PFAS-free thread locking coating manufactured by omniTECHNIK Mikroverkapselungs GmbH, part of the SurTec Group.

The reformulated precote® 85 eliminates PTFE and instead uses a biodegradable wax content, delivering the same high-performance characteristics while offering a more sustainable alternative.

“This reformulated version of the product offers the same exceptional performance, but without the presence of PFAS. Our customers are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious, so will be pleased to be able to utilise this option,” said Gareth Lowndes, Technical Sales Manager at Inlex.

PFAS substances, including PTFE, have long been valued in thread coatings for their frictional and thermal properties. However, their persistence in the environment and potential health risks have brought growing regulatory pressure, leading OEMs to phase out PFAS-based products.

As the UK’s leading authorised certified coating partner for the precote® range, Inlex supplies solutions used across multiple sectors. Alongside precote® 85, the company offers proven high-strength thread locking adhesives such as precote® 30 and 80, with variants including the fast-curing -3 and fine-pitch -8 versions for specialist applications. Inlex also supplies pre-applied thread sealants like precote® 5, underhead sealants such as precote® 15 and 200, and wax-based lubricants including precote® Top 300.

“We work closely with our partners as part of our joint ongoing commitment to continually develop new applications and technological advancements, ensuring we can meet both customer needs and wider market trends,” Lowndes added.
