EJOT UK has expanded its EJOT DDS-Z soffit fastener range, enabling deeper soffit liners to be installed for higher thermal performance.
Exclusively for UK customers, the new fastener boasts a length of 400mm with only 25mm of embedment depth. This means an insulation thickness of 375mm can be accommodated by the DDS-Z soffit fastener range.
These longer fasteners are widely used by building contractors and specialist subcontractors who need to meet higher thermal performance, acoustic insulation and fire resistance standards in projects such as car parks, undercrofts and other spaces over which residential or commercial accommodation is built. This primarily involves using much thicker soffit insulation or soffit liners, particularly non-combustible mineral fibre, which, in the case of the DDS-Z, already enables the installation of soffit depths of up to 325mm.
Currently, the DDS-Z range already offers fasteners in lengths including 275, 300, 325 and 350mm. Despite the extended fastener lengths, all versions still only require a 25mm embedment into the concrete. This reduces the potential impact on reinforcement within the concrete, which could add time, complexity and cost to the project. Because the screw does not expand, it is also more favourable for use with pre-stressed concrete beams.
The DDS-Z brings together a premium quality concrete screw with the EJOT DD-T washer. As a fastener specifically designed for the attachment of ceiling insulation and acoustic boards to concrete soffits, the DDS-Z is a steel screw featuring a duplex coating and a self-tapping thread for use in cracked and non-cracked concrete. It has a C1–C3 corrosion resistance classification.
“The most recent updates to the building regulations and initiatives to meet Net Zero Carbon (NZC) have led to increased scrutiny of how we insulate soffits. Fire safety and thermal performance are undoubtedly topping the priority list at the specification stage, but the acoustic performance of the proposed soffit insulation has become critically important too,” said Richard Bowhay, Sales Manager for Construction Fasteners.
“Hence why thicker insulation is becoming a feature of many UK new build and refurbishment projects,” Bowhay added.
The new range will be launched by the end of the first quarter of 2026. All products in the EJOT DDS-Z range can be ordered online via EJOT UK’s webshop.
