Construction workforce management platform Lumber has acquired BuilderFax, a digital credential management platform for construction craft workers.
As part of the acquisition, BuilderFax’s credential wallet will be integrated into Lumber’s AI-driven platform. Despite the merger, the BuilderFax app will remain free to use for all craft workers, allowing them to manage certifications that have traditionally existed only in paper form across disparate systems.
The move is expected to simplify hiring and compliance processes for employers by reducing administrative workload and minimising project delays. It will also give construction firms access to a wider pool of qualified professionals, with credential data linked directly to key operational tools such as time tracking, scheduling and payroll.
For employers, this integration brings greater transparency to workforce capabilities, enabling validation of on-site experience and measurable skill assessments. For craft workers, it offers career development tools such as resume builders, job board access, training recommendations, and personalised career guidance based on verified credentials and job histories.
In a step aimed at supporting workforce readiness from the ground up, Lumber is also partnering with vocational schools to have the app pre-installed on student tablets, helping students track certifications and prepare for direct entry into the construction workforce.
“This acquisition comes at a pivotal time for America’s skilled trades,” said Shreesha Ramdas, CEO and Co-founder of Lumber. “By combining our AI-powered platform with BuilderFax’s credential capabilities, we’re making workforce management more efficient while supporting the national effort to grow and retain the skilled labour force that’s building the future.”
