BIAFD announces leadership changes as Ian Doherty retires

The British and Irish Association of Fastener Distributors (BIAFD) has announced a management reshuffle following the retirement of its Chairman, Ian Doherty.

Doherty confirmed his resignation and retirement from the BIAFD Management Committee at the autumn meeting. Succeeding him as Chairman is Gary Henderson, Managing Director of Grampian Fasteners and previously the association’s Vice Chairman.

“Ian’s leadership, commitment and vision have undoubtedly helped strengthen the association. On behalf of the Management Committee and the membership, we extend our sincere thanks to Ian for his contribution and for the energy and expertise he has brought to BIAFD,” said Henderson.

Doherty also stepped down from Owlett-Jaton in March 2025.

Meanwhile, Stephen Clarke, Group CEO of Profast, will take on the role of Vice Chairman.

The BIAFD also welcomed two new members to its Management Committee: Yasin Boulakhras, Global Head of Product Strategy at Accu, and Scott Hayfield, Inside Sales Manager (Trade), Quality & Technical and Engineering Specialist at Fabory.

Both were elected at the AGM and are expected to bring “fresh perspectives and valuable experience” to support the continued growth and direction of the association.
