Nord-Lock has expanded its X-series range with seven new additions.
The expansion responds to growing market demand for the X-series, which now includes the new sizes NLX20sp, NLX22 (7/8"), NLX22sp (7/8"sp), NLX24, NLX24sp, NLX27 and NLX27sp.
Utilising a unique multifunctional design, the X-series combines the proven wedge-locking technology of the original Nord-Lock® washers with the ability to compensate for settlement, reliably securing bolted connections in the toughest environments.
The X-series washers consist of a pair of wedge-locking washers. Each washer has cams on one side and serrations on the other. When tightened, the serrations embed into the mating surfaces. As the cam angle (α) is greater than the thread pitch (β), a wedge effect is created, preventing bolt loosening caused by vibration and dynamic loads. The conical shape of the washers also compensates for settlement and reduces slackening, maintaining preload even under demanding conditions.
This special design allows the X-series to secure bolted joints against thermal cycling, relaxation of soft metals and composites, and slackening caused by assemblies with multiple clamped components—scenarios common in intensive industries such as mining, railways, logistics and the energy sector.
“The extended X-series range marks a significant step in strengthening Nord-Lock’s offering for demanding applications across multiple industries,” said Graham Souter, Vice President and Head of Business Unit Nord-Lock. “We recognise rising market demand and respond by delivering high-performance bolting solutions, backed by rigorous testing and certified approvals.”
In 2025, Nord-Lock® X-series washers became the first of their kind to be granted CE marking. This certification is verified by an independent third-party body and requires extensive technical testing to demonstrate consistent performance and reliability.
