Lederer will complete the conversion of an existing hall into a modern service area for packaging operations in mid-2026.
The company stated that the expansion of the in house packaging service is another key component of the company’s long term strategy, including enhancing customer service through greater individualisation, reducing costs and shorter transport times previously required.
The investment also aims to increase sustainability, and optimise and integrates processes “from a single source”.
At the heart of the investment at the Ennepetal site is a fully automated packaging machine for the bag packaging of small parts. In total, almost €500,000 is being invested in the refurbishment, technology, and equipment of the existing building.
With the new service unit, packaging and labeling tasks can be carried out even faster and more individually. The company gains full control over every step – from goods receipt to repacking and demand based labeling.
The investment boasts another advantage: external transport to service providers is no longer required. This saves time and reduces costs, while simultaneously lowering resource consumption, a sustainable contribution to environmental and climate protection.
Moreover, the new packaging service hall at the Ennepetal headquarters increases storage capacity by up to 330 additional pallet spaces for repackaged goods. Materials are stored directly on site and, for the first time, can also be unloaded directly from containers and processed immediately. This significantly increases the efficiency of internal logistics.
