Flush Fasteners has launched F-head™ screw, combining technical performance, long-term durability and a sleek, functional design.
Developed originally for use in cleanrooms and healthcare environments, it tackles a long-standing hygiene challenge: conventional recessed screw heads that accumulate contaminants. Previously, facility managers attempted to seal these recesses with caulk, but the sealant degraded under harsh disinfectants, creating additional contamination risks.
The F-head™ solves this problem with a precision-engineered plunger that closes the drive recess when the screw is not engaged. With a clearance gap of less than 100 microns, thinner than a human hair, testing shows the design is up to 98% more hygienic than traditional fasteners. Manufactured from type 316 stainless steel, it offers excellent resistance to aggressive cleaning agents and demanding environmental conditions.
Beyond its hygienic advantages, the F-head™ also appeals to industries where appearance and performance are equally important. Its clean, flush profile has been adopted in sectors ranging from luxury furniture and custom yachts to high-end automotive applications and architectural installations. Racing teams, in particular, value the screw’s ability to reduce drag and turbulence, taking advantage of its aerodynamic and hydrodynamic properties.
The F-head™ is available from 3.5 mm to 12 mm in metric sizes and from #6-32 to ½"-13 in SAE sizes, with global patent protection in place.
