MKT opens new manufacturing site in Weilerbach, setting new standards for growth and sustainability

MKT has officially opened the new production building in Weilerbach, Germany.

Representing an investment of €30 million, the new site spans 15,000 square metres. The company stated that the new site can streamline manufacturing processes and accommodate additional machinery, with production lines consolidated under one roof.

Initially, around 70 employees will be working in the production halls, which include an integrated functional building.

To celebrate the opening, MKT launched a ceremony to mark the milestone of the company. A total of 400 guests, including those involved in the construction, customers, suppliers and numerous employees, were invited to the event, along with Alexander Schweitzer, Minister-President of Rhineland-Palatinate.

“MKT in Weilerbach is an outstanding example of the many hidden champions from Rhineland-Palatinate: a family-run company producing innovative fastening technology for major infrastructure projects around the world,” said Schweitzer.

“It is particularly gratifying that this expansion was built in the subsidised industrial area ‘Auf dem Immel II’ – a project that we, as the state government, have supported with around two million euros to safeguard jobs and sustainable growth in the region,” he added.

Aside from the opening of the site, MKT has also received the certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), confirming compliance with the highest possible Platinum Standard.

While the new site is among the very first production facilities to achieve this standard, MKT said receiving the Platinum Standard is a clear sign of the high benchmarks the company sets in terms of energy efficiency, environmental compatibility and employee well-being.

“With this new building, we are investing not only in our future but also in the region and in our employees. The new production facility enables us to strategically expand our capacities while maintaining the highest ecological standards,” said Stefan Weustenhagen, Managing Director of MKT.
