Kingfisher has completed the sale of Brico Dépôt Romania to Romanian retail company Altex Romania.
The transaction cost €70 million, equivalent to about £59 million. Kingfisher announced the news in December 2024, as the sale comprised the entire Brico Dépôt Romania business, including its network of 31 stores in 24 cities, distribution operations and head office in the capital city of Romania, Bucharest.
Kingfisher CEO Thierry Garnier said the sale of Brico Dépôt Romania will enable Kingfisher to further focus on markets and growth initiatives where the company is “strongly positioned to deliver attractive returns and create shareholder value”.
“I would like to thank all Brico Dépôt Romania colleagues for their commitment and customer focus over the years, and I wish them well under the new ownership. (The sale) also allows us to continue to provide our Own Exclusive Brands to customers in Romania."
