CDS Superstores, the parent company of The Range and Wilko, has opened five new superstores in the UK and Ireland at former Homebase sites.
Located in Santry, Woodside Park, Sheffield, Tiverton and Cookstown, the new superstores combine Homebase’s home improvement expertise with The Range’s diverse home, leisure and garden offerings.
The revamped stores also include the Garden Centres by Homebase segment, which aims to enhance garden and outdoor living products.
The stores are part of the company’s effort to “revitalise the legacy of Homebase”, which entered administration in late 2024. CDS Superstores acquired the Homebase brand and 70 of its former locations following the collapse, with plans to relaunch 45 of them under The Range banner.
The opening of the stores also signalled CDS’s commitment to rejuvenating retail spaces and tapping into evolving consumer preferences for multi-purpose, experience-driven shopping environments.
“We’re fully committed to retaining the best of Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader product range and value that customers expect from us as The Range,” said Alex Simpkin, chief executive of CDS Superstores.
“While those Homebase stores acquired by CDS will continue to trade throughout the transition period, we’re focused on ensuring a seamless transfer of these locations into our new store format, with 15 launches confirmed for this year so far," Simpkin added.
