Fastenal announces new regional operations and logistics centre in Georgia, US

Fastenal will begin construction of a regional operations and logistics centre in Carrollton, Georgia, US.

Slated to open in spring 2027, the new facility will be significantly larger than Fastenal's current 252,000 square-foot regional distribution centre in Atlanta, with enough space on the site to potentially expand the building's footprint to 900,000 square feet.

Moreover, the new site will feature a range of warehouse technologies, including improved processing software and enhanced material handling equipment. Fastenal Company said these innovations will increase storage capacity, accelerate order picking and support Fastenal's distribution goals of more in-stock products and faster customer service.

The company stated that the expansion will offer “dramatically expanded capacity” and close proximity to educational institutions, providing a strong pipeline for talent development and recruitment.

"It's an investment in the future. We're excited to deepen our community ties by building a state-of-the-art workplace, creating new employment opportunities and raising the bar for our capabilities and service,” said Greg Campbell, Senior Regional Operations Manager at Fastenal.

Fastenal Company first launched its distribution operation in the area in 1993 with a small team, one truck driver and 50,000 square feet of warehouse space in Atlanta. A decade later, in 2003, the team relocated to the current Atlanta distribution facility.

Currently, the distribution operations team has 300 people, providing distribution, logistics and support services for branches and customer sites throughout the Southeastern US.

To keep pace with company growth, Fastenal plans to expand the team over the next five years as it moves into the larger facility.
